Cross Country Triumph

I have just heard some fantastic news from Friday's inter-school sports event, the cross country competition, that took place at Churchill Academy...

The scores from all the runners have now been added up and we have good reason to be very pleased!

We took 45 runners in total from Key Stage 2, boys and girls, and both our boys' team and our girls' team won! All children gave their all and the positions of our top five runners in both the girls' and boys' categories contributed to the overall scores. In the boys' team we were awarded 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th and 8th places and in the girls' competition we were awarded 2nd, 4th, 5th, 12th and 13th places.

There were a number of children in our teams who had never competed in a school  competition before and simply representing the school at this event was a fantastic experience for them. I could mention lots of special successes but of particular note are the following: Will in Year 6 won the overall competition and Dylan in Year 4 came third. Caitlin and Emma were awarded 2nd and 4th places respectively. I am very proud of ALL the children who represented the school so magnificently.  I should like to thank Miss Matthews, our enthusiastic PE Leader for all her hard work and also to the many parents who supported the event. With Mrs Semple,  our PE Governor there too, 'team Wrington' certainly were very well supported! Well done to all.
