Inspiring Y6 writing with a special visitor

Author and playwright Shaun McCarthy visited Year 6 this morning...

After a short creative visualisation activity, the children let their imaginations run wild and used their amazing ideas to write iambic pentameters just like William Shakespeare! It was truly an inspirational morning and the children were all so excited about their work.

The visit was part of the school's involvement in the prestigious regional creative writing competition, the Threshold Prize. We are very proud to have been associated with this competition for a number of years now. Although only a few children may be successful in their writing being included in a special anthology, all children in Year 6 are able to have the experience of working with a published author.
