The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.
Our sporting achievements this year include: Level 3 Hockey qualifiers Level 3 Tag Rugby qualifier With a total of 89 young people competing in local inter-school competitions this year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.
As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year. A special thanks to: Shane German North Somerset PE Association We look forward to applying once again in 2020!
The school fully embraces the National Curriculum requirements around swimming, which sees Years 3 and 4 attend weekly swimming sessions for terms 1 and 2 at a local pool, which includes instruction from qualified swimming teachers.
EXTRA CURRICULAR CLUBS
We are proud to have a wide choice of extra curricular activities:
In November 2019, we welcomed England International cricketer Anya Shrubsole to our school. Anya took part in training sessions alongside a coach from Somerset Cricket Club with our Year 5 and 6 classes. She also had lunch with the children, signed many autographs and took part in a whole school question and answer session.
